I had a flash fiction piece, entitled Saying Goodbye, published on the Every Day Fiction site last week. It is a sad piece about the heartache involved in putting a beloved pet down.

I had two short stories win third place in two anthology contests, along with two poems. The anthology will come out late in 2009. I was so excited to have my stories chosen, and can’t wait to see them in print!

New Writing Prompt Blog

I have started a new blog, called Your Photo Story. This one offers photographs to inspire stories. It’s really fun writing stories from prompts, and picture prompts are just another spin on this idea.

I would love y’all to go look at the blog and see if the first picture sparks your imagination. All you do is write a story off the pic and post it on your blog, then come to Your Photo Story and leave a comment with the link to your story for others to read. You can also use the pic on your blog along with the story if you like.

The hopes of writing prompt sites are to get more readers to each blog that participates, and as a way to spread creativity around. It is a great way to meet other writers also. Please come share in the fun!

Angel Sharum

Angel Sharum is a Georgia Peach ripening in Alabama. Never one to shy away from voicing her opinion, Angel found the perfect venue to share her thoughts when she started writing non-fiction articles for online publications.

The success of her articles convinced her to try her hand at other forms of writing. Putting what friends and family called a vivid and sometimes twisted imagination to use, she began writing poetry and short fiction. It didn’t take long for her to realize this was where her true passion lay.

Writing short stories allows her to take readers on journeys of imagination that linger beyond “The End” and poetry offers a way for her to shake up people’s emotions and make them think. According to Angel, if she accomplishes these goals a truly special connection is found between her and her readers.

Angel has two poems featured in an anthology coming out in March 2009. You will be able to purchase a copy of the anthology from online retailers and bookstores.

The anthology has short stories and poetry from various authors. Different genres are represented, so everyone is sure to find something they love in the anthology.

Paperwork for Publication

There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes when an author is selected to have work published in an anthology.

I did an author packet the other day that included releases for the poems and my picture. You also have to do tax documents, interview questions, and promotional aspects.

It is very exciting getting accepted for publication, but be prepared for the paperwork that goes with it!
